Biography: Daphne (or Daph) knew a little about magic from her aunt, a witch who attended Hogwarts. Her parents, especially her mom, were always jealous of this aunt. It didn't help matters when Daphne received her Hogwarts letter at age 11 and was whisked off into the magical world on the Hogwarts express. Her parents got over their jealousy, or so it seemed. They're sort of living vicariously through their daughter, writing her every week to hear about her classes and friends.
They're somewhat disappointed on that end, though. Daphne is extremely shy and unsure of herself, a fact that makes it difficult to make friends. She's struggling with this, but she often becomes extremely awkward and uncomfortable in social situations. With little progress being made, she should have time to devote to her schoolwork, but she's honestly not the best witch either, something that doesn't help her lack of self-esteem. She manages Cs or slightly better in most of her classes except transfiguration, her worst subject.
She'd love nothing better than to make friends and be popular, something universal to all teenagers, but she'll need to either get over her shyness or find people who can accept her social awkwardness.
