Located on the west side of the castle is Ravenclaw Tower. The entrance is most cleverly concealed by a door found at the top of a tightly winding spiral staircase that leads up from the fifth floor. Upon looking at it, the first thing one notices is the lack of handle or keyhole. Only a knocker in the shape of a bronze eagle stands out, and it is vitally important to any Ravenclaw for it is this knocker that will test your worthiness to enter the Ravenclaw common room. A question will be asked, and you must determine the answer or be denied entrance, but it is easy enough for any worthy Ravenclaw.
Once you have answered, the door swings open to reveal your common room, hung in blue and bronze. The midnight blue carpet is speckled with stars as is the domed ceiling of the circular room. It has a more open and airy feeling than other common rooms, not that most students know this.
There are armchairs, tables, and bookcases throughout the room, but the most spectacular sight is through the elegantly arched windows that provide a stunning view of the grounds, the majestic mountains, the forest, and the lake.
Across from the entrance is another door that leads to the dormitories beside which stands a statue of your house's founder herself, Rowena Ravenclaw.
So far, the only rule specific to the common rooms is that only those in that house may enter, as is laid out by the canon.
