If you chose the door to the right of the main staircase in the entrance hall, you will be on your way. Close to the kitchens, you will find the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room through a still life painting. Should you know that the password has been changed to "Diggory" in reference to the most famous Hufflepuff since Helga herself, you will be allowed entrance.
Upon entering, you see the familiar and homey yellow hangings, the inviting and comfortable armchairs by the fireplace, and tables for doing homework. The mood is warm and inviting to say the least, where anyone or anything aside from a slytherin and a blast-ended skrewt would feel content. A notice board is located by the entrance to the room with a notice that a sixth year was seeking a various assortment of famous witch and wizard cards, an offer for a charms tutor, and a notices about a lost toad.
Across the room are two perfectly round doors that lead to tunnels ending in the dormitories.
So far, the only rule specific to the common rooms is that only those in that house may enter, as is laid out by the canon.

{name:Luke Smith#|#picture:3} Luke walked up to the common room his bag over his shoulder. He tossed his head forcing his longer hair out of his eyes. Diggory he said and pushed the painting open and walked into the common room. He sighed and walked over to one of the squishy couches and sat on it letting his book bag fall to the floor. He didn't need the abuse he had been putting his body threw these last few weeks but he couldn't help it much.
There was something about being an insomniac, playing Quiditch, Taking on as many classes as he could, and taking on the new responsibility of being an older brother that had Luke exhausted beyond anything he had ever experienced before.
Luke yawned and rubbed his eyes closing them and tried to shut his brain up. He let his muscled relax and tried to force himself into sleep. He deepened his breathing and tried to empty his mind, but every time he would get close something would come unbidden into his thoughts that would make it impossible to relax all the way.
Luke Finally gave up with a disgusted grunt and forced his eyes open again though they wanted to stay closed and bis Body begged for sleep It just wouldn't come yet. It would probably be another two days before he actually slept a few hours. He rubbed his face and blinked a few times. And realized with a start that he was no longer alone in the common room.

{name:Daphne Lewis#|#picture:3} Daphne gave herself a nother glance in the miror in her dormitory before grabbing her potions book and a roll of parchment to go finish her potions essay in the common room. True, she didn't need to look ravishing to study alone, but one never knew who one might run into.
She walked into the common room and saw that it was almost empty. It must be the good weather, she thought. Everyone is outside for now. Come November, they'd all be huddled around the fire noisily taking about their days, playing gobstones, or any number of other actibities. For now, it was her and a rather hansome boy.
Being so shy, she didn't know a whole lot of her other housemates, so it wasn't surprising that his face looked familiar but a name didn't come to mind. They'd probably never even met before. She smiled a little and took a seat at a nearby table, unrolled her parchment and opened her book only to notice she hadn't brought a quill.

{name:Luke Smith#|#picture:0} Luke looked at the girl his thoughts sluggish. He blinked a few times and tried to clear the fog that tended to always be weighing in his brain. He rubbed his face and then looked at the girl again. He knew that she was a year below him but other than that he didn't know anything about her, and that surprised him. He knew a lot of people in his house almost every one, or at lease knew their names. So he ran threw all of the names and when still nothing came up He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
He realized that he was staring into the fire that was crackling in the hearth and he looked back at the girl She was quite good looking. The thought made him make a slightly funny face as if he didn't know what was going on his own head. He rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands trying to get his brain working just a bit more. And he looked at her again He noticed that she had pulled out her homework and didn't have a quill. So he leaned forward and pulled one of his out of his book bag He leaned back and stretched his arm over the back of the couch he was sitting on and said Here, barrow mine. Luke held out the quill so she could take it if she chose and gave her a slightly crooked smile I'm Luke. That was lame he thought at himself Couldn't come up with anything better than My name is Luke. Pift. His thoughts always tended to get that way when he was around pretty girls.
